Area/ Site lighting
Almost all works at construction sites are carried out during the night as well. Construction site illumination is the mandatory requirement to round the clock operations both in winter and in summer. Properly arranged illumination, selection and location of light sources and lighting equipment, allow working without slowdown even during the night. Moreover, proper illumination of construction site and uniform luminous flux distribution at workplaces, walkways and driveways, storage sites, welfare facilities, constructed buildings and structures, as well as in dangerous areas during excavation and site preparation, is among the major factors reducing workplace injuries.
Construction site illumination should be uniform and sufficient to perform all construction processes and satisfy all construction norms and regulations; it should be taken into account that construction site conditions do not allow placing illumination equipment in close proximity to it, thus sending luminous flux from a considerable distance.
Currently the following types of light sources are used for construction site illumination: quartz-halogen lamps, MHL, ML, and HPS. One of the most significant disadvantages of such luminaires is their non-resistance to vibration, present on tower and overhead cranes. Thereby, there exists a high probability of lighting equipment failure, which in its turn might cause incidents and construction technology violation.
The installation of powerful, vibration resistant LED luminaires on construction cranes may become a possible solution to this problem.
